our history
"My love for the Land of the Rising Sun began in 2002 when I first visited Japan and fell in love irreversibly. Japan is a country unlike any other, and I am always amazed at how it blends cutting-edge technology with centuries-old traditions.

I have a particular fondness for traditional arts. I began my deep dive into Japanese culture with painting and spent 10 years practicing Sumi-e, the art of monochrome ink painting. Then came the time for ikebana, sashiko embroidery, and shibori—traditional fabric dyeing techniques. My special passion is transforming vintage items into modern, practical pieces with their own unique histories. It brings me great joy that my creative ideas are shared by others who are as passionate as I am.

Yuriko is a team that creates not just items, but wearable art. I am convinced that at the heart of creativity, a vital, innate instinct, lies the very essence of our survival as a species. As long as we create with our hands, we are filled with life and meaning."
The creator of the Yuriko brand is Liliya Kulikova, a professional psychologist, artist, and avid admirer of traditional Japanese arts.
"Each person develops their own unique meanings, creating the distinct fabric of their life. But how can we weave a pattern of joy into this fabric?"
"Everything in our lives is unique and intricately interwoven, much like the threads in a fabric. This includes our family heritage, childhood memories, cultural influences, and the diverse philosophies of various peoples.
The philosophy of Kokoro and a longstanding passion for fabrics and handcrafting inspired us to create the original brand Yuriko, aiming to help people find their own path to joy.
The brand's creative team explored these questions in various fields and countries, but ultimately found true inspiration in Japanese culture—the art of crafting patterns and symbols of wisdom that have been preserved through the centuries.
